My poems

Freedom

Posted on April 20, 2016 at 6:30 AM

What is freedom, but the liberty to speak your heart out

To run through the grass unafraid and carefree

Being able to do whatever you want to

For the whole world to be yours to see

What is freedom, but having no boundaries

To not be held in captivity

To be an eagle without a cage

To fly till you reach the place

Where the horizons meet the sea

What is freedom, but feeling the warm summer breeze

While you lay your head so that you can ease

The nagging fears stopping you

From being whoever you want to be

What is freedom but making your own choices

And getting rid of those silly voices

That think they can tell you what to do

But only get ridiculed and look like fools

What is freedom but chasing the moon

The sun, the stars, your dreams

Chasing everything you wanted

Not walking but making your way into the world with bounds and leaps

What is freedom

But all of these things

Being able to hum your own tune

Even though you don’t know how to sing….
